Social ministry is an integral part of Catholic parish life. Raising awareness of pressing issues of our time and working to effect change is part of our baptismal call. Catholic Charities provides training and facilitation opportunities to start or re-energize parish social concerns committees. We offer your committee education on current issues, skills development, and media resources.
Parish social concerns committees may reflect a multitude of themes. From feeding the poor, prison ministry, elder care, parish nurse programs, bereavement teams, ministry to the divorced, to ‘greening’ the church and home, social concerns committees reflect the face of God to hurting people.
