For communities experiencing loss due to flooding or other natural disasters, Catholic Charities provides outreach through coordination of volunteer support personnel, soliciting donations, and reflecting God’s face to the community at large.  Regardless of race, creed, or socioeconomic status, Catholic Charities is there to help.

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Toledo also assists where needed across the United States. From helping the eight counties of our diocese affected by recent floods, to our continuing relationship with hurricane-torn Houma-Thibodaux diocese in Louisiana, Catholic Charities remains a viable presence.

JUNE 2010 SEVERE WEATHER/TORNADOES

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Toledo is working with local first-response organizations to assess the damage, and evaluate the need of those affected by the severe thunderstorms and tornadoes that swept through Northwest Ohio June 5th and 6th. Catholic Charities will be coordinating efforts with Ohio Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (OVOAD) to offer outreach and support to individuals, families and parish communities.

 

The Catholic Charities Disaster Response program will provide long-term disaster relief services including not only financial assistance, but case management and support to our parishes throughout the recovery process.

 

At this time Catholic Charities is taking monetary donations to the Disaster Relief Fund that will be used to provide this long-term support. Donations can be made by calling the Toledo Catholic Charities office at 419-244-6711 x. 405 or click here to donate online.

 

The following parishes will be taking up special collections at their masses for the disaster relief efforts:

 

  • St. Jerome, Walbridge: June 19-20
    • St. Jerome is also working with Calvary Lutheran church to offer pastoral care to those affected by the disaster. People will be available to talk next week, June 14-18 at the parish from 5pm-8pm. 
  • Holy Family, North Baltimore: June 19-20
  • St. Ignatius, Oregon: Will take monetary donations throughout the month of June and direct them to Catholic Charities
  • All Saints, Rossford: Will take monetary donations throughout the month of June and direct them to the Red Cross
