Supportive Housing Program

permsupportivehousing-200Our supportive housing program is developed for homeless individuals and families where the head of household has a disability and family income is at or below poverty levels.  Our focus is to secure open market housing and support services as a means toward developing stability, self-sufficiency and independence for our clients.  Case Managers are assigned to each client as a facilitator in developing goals, plans to achieve those goals, and as a connection to our community services in providing medical and/or other personal assistance to head of households and family members.  Additionally, we work with the client in developing strategies to increase their household income through job acquisition, increased education and training and other avenues to provide the means necessary for financial stability.  Finally, we secure resources to assist our clients in the acquisition of basic needs such as food, cleaning supplies, cooking utensils and furniture as a way to assist in providing some sense of normalcy and stability as the embark on their journey toward independent living.

Current funding levels are sufficient to provide the above services for approximately 15 families or 35 individuals.  In FY10, 19 families were part of our program.  Of these 19 families, 89% remained housed for at least 6 months.  The average length of stay in our program is 8.7 months, with 85% of clients leaving our program being self-sustaining and living independently.
